The TUM Global Postdoc Fellowship offers a unique funding opportunity for external postdoctoral scientists currently residing abroad who wish to start their research at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). This fellowship provides 24 months of support, allowing fellows to diversify their research profiles within a TUM department and initiate new research projects in collaboration with TUM scientists. The fellowship is open to researchers who have completed their doctorate within the last three years or who will complete their doctorate within the next 12 months. Applicants must reside outside of Germany at the time of submission.

The application process for the TUM Global Postdoc Fellowship involves two phases. In Phase I, candidates do not need to submit a letter of support from a TUM host. However, during Phase II, applicants must identify and secure support from a TUM host who will endorse their application. The fellowship is open to all research topics, and applicants are encouraged to propose projects that align with the research interests of the supporting chair, institute, or lab at TUM.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for the TUM Global Postdoc Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency: Applicants must reside outside of Germany at the time of submission.

  • Research Alignment: Applicants must propose a research project that matches the interests and expertise of a TUM chair, institute, or lab.

  • Application Phases:

Phase I: No need to submit a letter of support from a TUM host.
